This is not really true. While it may in time shorten the drives life span due to high activity from the full disk formatting, the lifespan will be only somewhat shorter than normal and wont even be noticeable. The only real complication is that doing constant recoveries and formats takes time and is rather annoying. I personally could not do that over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over…………again.
